Match Report – Round 16 – 10 th August 2008

Ivanhoe - Away

A wet weekend for our last game of the home & Away season but a reasonable surface was provided at Ivanhoe's alternate home. Our boys made a strong, hard-running start on the big ground with Ben Mc everywhere up forward and capitalizing in his hard work with two goals. Charlie was impassable at centre half back (as he continued to be for the whole game) and we had winners all over the ground with Thomas, Harry DT and Sam all making good contributions.

The second quarter began with a stronger effort from Ivanhoe but after conceding a goal the royboys hit back well with Floyd leading the way with a string contested mark. Adam worked hard in the ruck, bringing Lewis and Fraser W into the game as Charlie continued to dominate. Digby contested hard and provided great run out of the backline and Harrison was able to bag the first of his two goals.

The second half saw our fine teamwork create many opportunities and some great handball exchanges provided room for Aidan, Daniel, Henry and Frazer K to run and carry. Every player contributed in a terrific team effort in which Ivanhoe never looked likely to challenge us.

Our challenge is to produce the same attack on the ball and willingness to help each other next week in a tough finals encounter against St.Mary's, who suffered their first defeat at the hands on Glen Iris on Sunday. It's a great opportunity for our boys to show what results total team commitment can bring.

Thanks to all our parent helpers: Michael W., Iain Mc., Dean C., Jayne H., Lachlan Mc., Bob P. and Lily (clearly the sister of Harry P).
