Round 7 - Canterbury at Canterbury

Fitzroy
            4 . 12 - 36
Beverley Hills    5 . 2 - 32

This weeks game saw the boys (in 7th place) up against 8th placed Canterbury at Canterbury.

The game kicked off in light fog, making for calm but unusual conditions.  The boys got off to a great start dominating the play, which was scrappier than usual in the slightly slippery conditions.  But for some missed shots at goal, the margin could have been greater at quarter time.

The second quarter was closer and while the the boys again had the majority of the play, Canterbury kept the margin close at half time.

The third quarter showed greater reward for their effort.  The boys chased hard, tackled, ran and got in for the contested ball, with the reward showing on the scoreboard, taking in a 15 point lead into the last quarter.

An early goal in the last quarter saw the lead stretched out to 21 points.  Canterbury then kicked three goals to edge back to within 2 points with about 5 minutes to play.  The boys settled down, and took the momentum back, kicking 2 points, and more importantly, taking back control of the ball through some great efforts.  The result, a hard fought 4 point win.

Well done team.  Another great effort all round.

Go Roys!!!
