Round 6 Match Report

Fitzroy 10 . 2 - 62

Kew 15 . 10 - 100

The Roys have always struggled against Kew - especially at their home ground at Victoria Park which they know intimately and play superbly.  We started well and were competitive in the 1st quarter - particularly because we kicked accurately in front of goal.  Unfortunately, our 2nd quarter was very poor even though we had the scoring end.  Kew kicked a winning score in the first half and only had to hang on for the rest of the game to be sure of a win.  Our 2nd half was heaps better - particularly the final quarter with 4 unanswered goals in the opening minutes and 5 for the quarter.  Although the game was already won by then, it was good to see our blokes running out the game with the sort of footy we know we are capable of.  Our big challenge now is for consistent footy across all four quarters.
