Hi footyfans,
following is the first match report for the year, match reports will also be
on the FJFC website.
I must admit as much as I suspected we would loose, I was really flat after
the game, I hate loosing, wrecks the weekend and its twice as bad when the
mighty blues loose too!
Although we were soundly beaten we are not on the bottom of the ladder,
check out the www.yarrajfl.org.au website it has been updated from last year
and has all the results ladders fixtures etc.
You know the more I think about yesterdays game the more positive I become,
I really think we should have kicked 6 goals or more, as I said before the
game we have to make the best of our opportunities. Yes I know it would not
be enough to win the game but we need to be rewarded for our efforts. To be
honest we are underdone,we will start the year slowly and get better as we
progress, hopefully get to a stage where we can challenge for the finals.
I thought Batesy played a cracker of game on the half back flank, runs
straight into any contest, fearless...... Haris’s last quarter in the
ruck
was excellent, he could be the man for the job. Louis was great at full
back, he really enjoyed his game 50th game, defended and kicked out well.
Jake is what you call a utility, you can play him anywhere and be sure he
give you everything, yu gotta love him. What about Nathan L in the last
quarter, on the half back flank..... reads the ball so well and rebounds it
like Pong. Lets not forget James Hodder who left his mark on a few of the
opposition, tough and reliable as they come!
I like Nathan F at CHF hes a great kick, if Deano and Cal can link up in the
forward line, we will kick a lot more goals, also Dylan R, took a great mark
and I thought was going to kick a goal.....maybe next week, I can't wait for
the first one to sail through. Mike (Monu) Matters is a running machine, add
a touch of Dylans (Hulk Hogan) strength and grunt its an almost unbeatable
middfield.
See there is a lot to look forward to......... what about Jack, Cosmo(pound
for pound the bravest kid in the comp), Bobby, Michael, Simon and big
DH(David Herbert that is), they all had a go....... remember this was Darcys
first real game of footy ever, not a bad effort first up!
Next week I hope to have Alfred Crescent on Saturday mornings, this will
give us a chance to set up some set plays...... I think it will really help
tour teamwork.
there is a big chance we could win our next 3 games, which means we will
stay in Gold, ok if that's the case lets see if we can make the finals. As
Danny said(who was brilliant on the weekend) if we play against better teams
we will improve overall become better footballer’s. If we don't, we go
back
to brown and have a red hot go at getting into the GF.
Oh and I just remembered......... we still have Injury to come back into the
team, add his skills to the midfield and look out, he should be keen to get
back on the field, I don't think he likes being a spectator, plus he has to
listen to his dad barra/bagging the team.
Lets keep our chin up and see what happens, most of all enjoys yourselves,
your a great bunch of kids................and parents!
cheers Rod
