Match Report – Round 15 – 3 rd August 2008

Back for our last home game for the season and a chance to consolidate after last week's heroics against Glen Iris. The plan was to go on the attack right from the start and whilst we got plenty of drive out of the middle from Fraser W, Riley and Daniel the windy conditions made scoring at the pavilion end difficult. A nice running goal from Riley finished some great work by Ben Mc however Rovers' big midfielders were causing plenty of problems for our boys. Some strong defending from Harry P and David limited the damage to a two goal deficit which was a reasonable effort in the circumstances.

In the second quarter we really got our running game working with Charlie and Digby streaming out of defense and Aidan, Thomas and Adam all prominent in the midfield. A lovely pass from Aidan to a fast-leading Ben C resulted in a great goal and Ben Mc's workrate across half forward was rewarded with two more. Floyd marked well and converted the shot from a tight angle to send us into half time with a handy lead.

The second half saw our boys take control of the match all over the filed with Harrison providing a good target up forward and cashing in with three goals. Scobie won several contests and followed the team plan by playing on whenever possible. Frazer K stepped in to fill in admirably in the ruck when Oskar injured his hand whilst Sam and Lachy provided plenty of scoring opportunities for their teammates. Lewis came into the game more in the second half and Max chimed in with two excellent goals from his forward pocket.

Lucas was as always a dependable presence in the backline and can be very proud to have played 50 fine games for the club.

A solid team effort from all players against a team who play to a standard higher than their ladder position would suggest.

Special thanks to Henry who was the unlucky name drawn out of the hat this week. Great to see you come down and support your teammates.
