Match Report
Round 5 - Ashburton at Kevin Bartlett
Fitzroy 8 . 6 - 54
Ashburton 4 . 2 - 26
This weeks match was against Ashburton at KB Reserve at the later start time of 1pm, the U10 equivalent of a twilight match.
The team went into the game with Ashburton sitting one place higher on the ladder.
The boys got off to a great start into the wind, taking up where they left off last week and dominating the play. Lots of great running, plenty of handball, and the boys were unlucky not to have a good lead at quarter time, with Ashburton kicking a couple late in the quarter, making the scoreline quite even at around 2 goals each.
The great work continued on in a closer second quarter, to be just in front at half time, again not getting reward on the scoreboard for the great efforts.
The third quarter was the tightest of the match, with the Roys defending well into the wind to trail by a small margin at three quarter time.
In the last quarter the boys dominated, starting by winning the ball out of the middle and moving the ball quickly down the ground in the highest scoring quarter of the season. The result, a 5 goal to nil quarter and a good win.
Well done team ! Another great win in a game played in great spirit by both sides. Like last week, there was plenty of team running, chasing when we didn't have the ball, great manning up and playing to position. Some fantastic marks, goals & other great efforts contributed to a good win.
Many thanks to all our helpers again today, and a special thanks to the umpire, who helped us out by filling in for us after umpiring the previous game. Thanks again.
