Round 8 - Ivanhoe at Bartlett
Q1 Q2 Q3 Final
Fitzroy 2.3 3.4 6.8 8.10.58
Ivanhoe 1.1 3.1 3.1 5.1.31
This weeks round 8 match saw the team up against Ivanhoe in fine conditions at KB Stadium.
The match started at a quick pace against a spirited Ivanhoe who played very well for a team on the bottom of the ladder. The Roys fought hard and had enough of the play to lead by 8 points at quarter time.
In the second quarter, the boys played well in a closely fought contest which saw the margin back to 3 points at half time.
The third quarter saw some great run and team play by the boys, and through winning most of the play, great assists, tackling & running, they kicked 3 goals 4 to nil to hold a 25 point lead at 3/4 time. Once again the playing in position was great, which helped move the ball quickly, ending up in a lot of scoring.
In the last quarter, the team had some great clearances from the centre and kicked the first two goals to extend their lead. Ivanhoe then kicked two quick goals, but the boys steadied to have a well earned 27 point win against a team who played some good football, and can't be far away from their first win. A great team effort with plenty of hard work.
Like last year, after some losses to start the season, the boys, though their never give-up attitude, have put together 5 wins in a row to move from bottom spot on the ladder up to 4th. With matches against the top 3 teams coming up in the next 3 weeks, it will be a great challenge for the team. Well done boys & keep up the great work !! Go Roys !!
Many thanks to everyone who helped & supported today.
Go Roys!!!
