Round 4 Match Report
Fitzroy 2 . 1 - 13
Ashburton 17 . 17 - 119
It was great to play at Brunswick St for the 1st time this season and to enoy the wonderful new changerooms at our home ground. Unfortunately we did not enjoy the result we would have liked. Ashburton - new to the Yarra League from the now disbanded Waverley League - are a very well-drilled, disciplined, hard-running team. The Roys had an excellent 1st quarter - hard running, kicking to a target and, for a pleasant change, a much more accurate goal conversion rate which put us ahead at the quarter time break. That was it for the game though. No more goals for the rest of the day and a growing lead to Ashburton throughout the rest of the game. Asburton ran away with the contest and handed us a lesson in team-oriented footy. They were first to the ball, there in numbers, always looking for each other, running into space and winning possession all over the ground. We have a lot to learn from our match against them today.
Go the ROYS!!! |
