COACH'S
MATCH REPORT:
Round
13
Fitzroy 6.5.41pts Defeated by Warrandyte 10.11.71pts
Having
negotiated the longest “away” journey on the fixture our boys started
confidently against a side with plenty of size. Some outstanding
individual efforts by Fitzroy players demonstrated great courage
and determination, marks taken running back with the fight of the
ball and fantastic persistence against the odds in the backline.
Our
team all tried their hardest right to the end and are to congratulated
for their efforts. The same applies for the whole season, in which
every Fitzroy player can say they did their best. Everyone can feel
well satisfied with a season that perhaps didn't bring as many wins
as hoped for, but in which all players had a chance to develop their
all-round games as well as being able to enjoy their football with
their mates.
It
should also be noted that right through the season all our boys
have upheld the standards of behaviour that FJFC is renowned for,
something that all their families should be very proud of.
Well
done to all the boys and we hope to see everyone back next year.
Thanks
to all our parent helpers over the course of the season: Jenny T,

Parent's Match
Report
This
week's game against a much bigger Warrandyte side was yet another
example of the way in which the U11 Golds have played all season
– full of heart, determination and never-say-die attitude.
The
team showed they weren't going to be beaten without a fight when
Daniel Costanzo took one of the bravest marks for the season in
the first minute of the game before passing to Adam Castillo who
kicked the team's first goal.
And
while the quarter time score showed that Warrandyte had gotten going
to post 3 goals, it was not without having to work hard for each
of those goals. Harrison Leech, Aiden, Lachlan and Riley all showed
their usual ability in moving the ball from the centre or keeping
it from moving to their attacking area.
The
second quarter was the Roys finest for the day. Harry D-T shone
against boys towering over him, while the two Bens moved the ball
fast and furiously along the wings. Emile was willing to crunch
the ball (and the odd player) whenever required in the centre and
Harry P, Fraser and Max were tireless in defence.
And
then when the ball was moved forward by our boys, Floyd was there
to mark and kick truly for a sensational goal. At the end of the
quarter, both sides had added 1.1 to their tallies.
The
second half was much more Warrandyte's as their height and marking
ability and long, long kicking came to the fore, but our boys refused
to give in. Daniel Costanzo started the third quarter with another
goal in the first minute. And Anthony Perri showed no reluctance
to play hard after bravely returning from a bad knock to his neck.
Ben
C capped off a fine passage of play, involving Harry D-T and Aiden,
with a strong goal. And despite being carried off after a bad knock
to his knee, Harrison was back on within minutes and into the play
again. Another move forward by Christian to Ben M was only thwarted
by the three quarter time siren.
The
last quarter was again dominated by Warrandyte until Christian decided
to show them that the U11 Gold team will never lay down by kicking
the last two goals of the day and our season.
Well
done to all the boys who played this season in a difficult competition
against other clubs who don't choose their Gold teams on friendship
groups as our team was. They should take great heart from the fact
that they were always competitive against these teams.
Well
done to Dick and Steven for another great season and to all the
parents who helped out during the season. It's probably only about
7 months to next season!!
