Round 16 Match Report Fitzroy Blue Vs Surrey Park at Surrey Park Final Scores:
Fitzroy players experienced their first real taste of winter footy when they visited Surrey Park for the final home and away game of the 2005 season. This was a top of the ladder show down, with the winner guaranteed the double chance, and the loser being eliminated to the First Semi elimination Final. Within a few minutes of the first bounce, Surrey Park showed that they had adapted well to the unfamiliar weather conditions, and were beginning to look dangerous up forward. With the wind making scoring difficult, Surrey Park displayed some wonderful team football, which enabled them to kick four goals for the term, while keeping a shell shocked Fitzroy scoreless. For the next three quarters, the wet conditions helped reduce the game to a scrambly affair. To Fitzroy's credit they managed to play a more accountable brand of football after the first break, and a fine goal to Max in the second quarter and Paddy in the third quarter, restored some respectability to the score board. In fact the players should have gained a great deal of confidence from their play in the final three quarters in the event that they play Surrey Park again in the Finals. Congratulations to Surrey Park on a great all round team effort, in very difficult conditions. Well the season ended as it had begun, with Fitzroy finishing in third position. Look forward Fitzroy to the Finals ahead. Bring on Richmond! Go Roys...... Round 15 Match Report Fitzroy Blue Vs SFX Whitehorse Colts at Springfield Park Final Scores:
On a fantastic winter's day, Fitzroy travelled to Springfield Park to take on the third placed SFX Whitehorse Colts. A victory would guarantee the team the double chance. Sam Gitzalis lost the toss and the team kicked down hill in the first quarter. The game started at a fast and torrid pace, with Fitzroy using the slope extremely well, however they were unable to penetrate the big sticks. A great piece of play by Sam Gitzalis prevented Whitehorse from scoring their first goal. Liam was giving the team some good drive following two fine marks and John was playing well around the ground. Unfortunately Sam Gill had to leave the ground late in the quarter after coming off second best after a hectic piece of play. Despite attacking for most of the quarter, Fitzroy failed to post a major for the term, and went to the half-time break trailing by 3 points. The second quarter started with both sides tackling extremely well. Nick G and the twins, Tom and Nick, were doing well around the ground. Whitehorse suddenly turned on 5 minutes of sensational football, kicking three goals and taking full advantage of the slope and the home ground advantage. Fitzroy, to their credit, tightened up their play, and finally Nick M broke free and kicked Fitzroy's first major. A fine individual effort by Roger in the dying minutes of the quarter prevented Whitehorse from extending their lead further. Fitzroy went to the half time break trailing by 18 points. Whitehorse started the third quarter strongly up the hill, and on several occasions threatened to score. Some strong defensive play from Ben, Rodger and Liam, repelled their attacks. Coach Ross made a few positional changes up forward, and these almost immediately paid dividend with Michael scoring the first major for the term. Fitzroy continued to attack, with the forwards fighting hard to retain the ball in the forward line. Their hard work was rewarded when Michael kicked his second goal for the term. It was a good quarter for Fitzroy, reducing the Whitehorse lead to 8 points at the last change. Tom and Nick continued their good play, tackling well and forcing the ball forward. Dylan and Nick G were picking up lots of possessions, and Laurie was rucking well around the ground. Fitzroy attacked for most of the first 10 minutes, however were only able to score 1 point in this time, due predominately to the outstanding play by Whitehorse no. 1. Paddy and Gabriel both had to leave the ground injured during this physical last quarter. Finally, against the run of play, Whitehorse rushed the ball forward and kicked a goal to seal the game with only minutes to go. A great fighting effort by all the players from Spencer to Will to Finn to Sam B.. however on the day SFX Whitehorse Colts were slightly too good. Round 14 Match Report Fitzroy Blue Vs Heidelberg at Citizen's Park Final Scores:
A strong wind prevailed from the outset of the game against Heidelberg, who were desperate to win to keep their slim final hopes alive. Heidelberg won the toss and elected to kick with the wind to the Richmond Pool end of the ground. The first quarter was a torrid affair, with both teams struggling to move the ball deep into their forward line. Fitzroy, through Nick M, posted the first major of the game, late in the first quarter. Fitzroy started the second quarter confidently, however were initially not able to advantage of the wind, scoring several minor scores. Finally the first goal resulted from a great snap by Liam following on from some great team play by Ben, Tom, Sam B and James. Michael was playing a great quarter of football and was rewarded for his effort with a fine goal and was extremely unlucky moments later when his next shot at goals hit the post. Fitzroy went to the half-time break with a commanding lead and well satisfied with their efforts in the first half. The third quarter was very similar to the first, with scores hard to come by. The Fitzroy defence lead by Sam Gitzalis and Roger, and well supported by Laurie, Spencer and Dylan, were well on top of their opponents, although the windy conditions made scoring goals at the Church St end of the ground extremely difficult. Fitzroy's only goal for the quarter was scored by Max, following some great team play all over the ground. The last quarter opened with Fitzroy attacking strongly, however they were unable to take full advantage of several strong forward moves. Finnian was playing a good game on the wing following a holiday break of five weeks, and Gabriel, Paddy and Sam Gill were putting their bodies in to help their team mates win the ball. The only goal for the quarter was scored by Dylan, which extended Fitzroy's lead to a comfortable 37 points, their second largest margin for the season. The win was even more creditable given the absence of Nick G, John, Will, Henry and Finbar. Once again the fine win was the result of a GREAT TEAM EFFORT, with all players contributing to the success. Go Roys! Round 13 Match Report Fitzroy Blue Vs Richmond at Citizen's Park Final Scores:
Sunday produced some of the best football that the U11 team has played all year. The team generated a well earned victory, with fantastic play across the ground.
First quarter resembled a big game of kick to kick as the defensive halves dominated. With some brave, high pressure football from Dylan Vella-Horne to smother a Richmond 's kick just when it was looking dangerous, the ubiquitous Sam Boyce who attracts the footy like a magnet, and the mercurial Max Lanskis hard at the ball, Fitzroy choked Richmond 's efforts with the wind and it ended up with only 1 point by quarter time.
The second quarter saw the game open up. The performance of Laurie and Paddy in the ruck, together with some fantastic roving, gave some drive, and Nick Gibbons capitalized on every opportunity, scoring 3 goals for the quarter. There was great play by Fitzroy everywhere with players Looking, Talking and Passing. By half time, Fitzroy had 8 scoring shots and ended the quarter 16 points up.
The temperature outside kept dropping as Richmond fought back in the 3rd quarter. Again the defence was strong and players including Abraham performed incredibly well to limit Richmond 's use of the wind advantage.
Fitzroy continued to play well into the final quarter. Highlights included James goal off a great mark, strong marking by Tom and a magnificent over the shoulder goal to Nick McMahon. Liam was robbed when his kick found the post, but this didn't stop Fitzroy increasing its lead to finish 27 points ahead.
Go Roys ….. Round 12 Match Report Fitzroy Blue Vs Greythorn at Ramsden St Final Scores:
A fantastic winter's day greeted the Fitzroy team for their game against Greythorn. Greythorn won the toss and elected to kick with the breeze to the Quarry Park end of the ground. The opposition attacked from the bounce, and posted their first goal within a couple of minutes of the start, despite some strong defensive play from John. From this point on, Fitzroy's mid-field of Liam, Rodger, Nick G and Tom, began to dominate play, and goals followed to Max, Sam Gill, James twice and Will. The quarter ended as it started with Greythorn kicking a goal just before the siren sounded.
The second quarter saw Fitzroy fail to take advantage of the breeze, and most of the quarter was played on Greythorn's forward line. Some great defensive work from Laurie, John, Ben, Sam G and Abraham restricted Greythorn to five points for the quarter, while Fitzroy was able to score one major through Sam Gill for the term.
The third quarter was much the same as the second, with Greythorn dominating play, taking advantage of the stronger breeze. Two good goals to Greythorn saw them trailing by only 10 pts at the final change.
The last quarter saw Fitzroy return to something like the form of the first quarter, although scoring goals became difficult due to the flooding tactics employed by Greythorn. Some good team play from Sam B, Tom M, Spencer, Paddy and Gabriel resulted in goals to Nick G and James. The play of the day occurred in this quarter when Nick G applied three successive tackles on Greythorn opponents in a team lifting effort. The final siren sounded with Fitzroy defeating Greythorn by 24pts, as they continued their march towards the finals. Round 11 Match Report Fitzroy Blue Vs St Mary's T at Whatmough Park Final Scores:
The last game before the term 2 school holiday break was played on the picturesque Whatmough Park in Greensborough. The cold start to the day must have made many of the players decide to spend an extra few minutes in the warmth of their beds, as with only ten minutes to go until game time, we were still four players short of a full on field team. John was given the job of leading the team into battle against St Mary's, who were full of confidence following a good win over SFX Whitehorse Colts in recent weeks. The game commenced five minutes late, allowing Laurie enough time to join the starting line-up.
Paddy began the game in the ruck, and with creative play from Sam B and Tom, it was not long before Liam was able to kick truly for Fitzroy's first goal of the game. Fitzroy dominated most of the first five minutes of the quarter, with Nick G, John, Sam G and Laurie looking extremely dangerous up forward. Despite several shots at goal however, the team was not able to find the gap between the big sticks. Gabriel, Dylan and Ben were playing with a great deal of determination across half back, repelling most of St Mary's attacks and supplying Will and Nick M with plenty of opportunity to drive the ball deep into the forward line. Quick movement of the ball by Gabriel down the field resulted in Laurie kicking the second major of the quarter. St Mary's finally were able to kick their first major of the quarter, however in the last few minutes of the quarter Tom kicked accurately to give Fitzroy a handy lead of 15 points at the first break.
Coach Peter congratulated the team on their fine team play and urged them to continue to move the ball quickly into the forward line. Michael was moved into the ruck and Peter stressed the importance of keeping the forward line open. The second quarter was a dour struggle with St Mary's appearing at times to be using the flooding tactic. Neither team was able to kick a major in this term, although Max was extremely unlucky that the ball didn't bounce truly for him as he sped towards goal late in the quarter.
Several positional changes were made at half time, with Paddy returning to the ruck, and Nick G and Max moving into the centre square. The lollies (and the oranges!!) seemed to revive the team, and in the third quarter the quick movement of the ball returned to their play. Will kicked the first goal of the quarter after a fine run around the boundary, and Tom quickly followed up with his second for the game. A goal to St Mary's seemed to be against the flow of play, however Fitzroy was soon to reply with a good goal by John. Spencer was playing the role of a loose man in defence, supporting his fellow defenders, and Henry was playing a close checking game in the back pocket.
The final quarter saw Fitzroy completely dominating, with the ball rarely crossing the centre into St Mary's forward line. James appreciated his shift to centre half forward, kicking three goals for the quarter and Paddy, resting in the forward pocket, kicked the team's tenth and final goal of the game. A jubilant Fitzroy team left the field singing the club song with much gusto, and pleased with themselves that they had returned to some good form following a number of leaner weeks.
Round 10 Match Report Fitzroy Blue Vs Doncaster Heights at Citizen's Park Final Scores:
A cold wintry day and a 10am start greeted the team for their round 10 clash with Doncaster Heights . Captain for the day, Laurie won the toss and decided to kick to the Church St goal in the first quarter.Doncaster Heights were dominant in the first few minutes of the game, however they were only able to score a couple of behinds due to some great defence from Liam, John and Sam Gr.. Fitzroy finally managed to get the ball into their forward line, due to some strong attacking play from Nick, James and Tom, however they too, were inaccurate in front of goal. For most of the quarter the ball see-sawed between the half-forward and half backline, and it became obvious that goals were going to be hard to come by in this game. At quarter time the scores were level at 2 pts a piece.
The second quarter saw Laurie starting to give the team some valuable drive out of the ruck and Sam B, Will, Finbar and Max winning plenty of the ball around the ground. Paddy appeared capable of pulling in a big mark in the forward line. Doncaster scored the first major of the game, however Sam Gill quickly answered with the first goal for Fitzroy, after receiving a free kick about fifteen metres from goal. Gabrie had a couple of good attacking moves, before going down to injury late in the quarter. Liam continued to dominate across half back, taking several fine overhead marks and James and Nick continued to rack up the possessions. At half-time, Doncaster led by the narrowest of margins. Fitzroy started the third quarter full of determination and playing their best team football for the match. A great snap by Ben put the team 1 goal up early in this term. Fitzroy dominated the play for most of the quarter, but could not really penetrate deep into their forward line, due to some great defensive play by Doncaster Heights . Dylan, Liam, Abraham, Michael and John were proving to be a tight knit unit in defence and James, Laurie and Tom continued to do well around the ground, driving the ball into the forward line.
The last quarter started with Fitzroy holding a one goal lead. For most of the quarter the ball was moved backwards and forwards between half forward lines. Neither team could penetrate the stellar defence of the opposition. With about five minutes to go, Doncaster Heights kicked a goa to level the scores. For the last five minutes, Doncaster Heights did most of the attacking, but the Fitzroy defence held firm. The last minute of the match saw Ben take two timely marks in the goal square to repel the final two attacks by Doncaster Heights . The siren sounded with both teams locked together on 15 points. After a short pause in proceedings, both teams left the field singing their clubs songs. Neither team had won, but then again neither team had lost. Round 8: Fitzroy Vs Bundoora (Away game)
Final Scores: Fitzroy 4-7-31 Defeated Bundoora 3-4-22
Bundoora won the toss and decided to kick downhill with the wind in the first quarter. The game started with Bundoora dominating the play. Within 5 minutes they had posted two goals and the Fitzroy players suddenly realised that they were in for a hard game, even though Bundoora had won only one game for the season. Fitzroy began to fight back and scored a good opening goal by Laurie after a good solid mark. The second quarter saw Fitzroy start to get their team work going. A long kick to the goal square saw Paddy take a fine chest mark only metres from goals. He shot truly and this gave Fitzroy the lead for the first time in the game. Nick and Gabriel were getting plenty of the ball-up forward and Michael, Sam Gill, Henry and Tom were prominent around the centre of the ground. A further goal to Max saw Fitzroy enter the half time break with a handy lead. Bundoora can out intent on wrestling the lead away from Fitzroy in the third quarter. Fine defence from Liam, James, Nick M, John and Sam Gitzalis repelled many attacks and kept Bundoora down to only one goal for the quarter. Fitzroy opened the last quarter with several shots on goal, but found it hard to score a major, with Bundoora playing hard desperate football. Nick, Will, Max, and Ben were prominent up forward, before a great snap at goal by Abraham scored Fitzroy's only goal for the quarter. Fitzroy's good fighting win of 9 points was built around fine team players such as Spencer, Dylan, Finbar and Finn.
Goal Scorers: Paddy, Max, Abraham and Laurie. Round 7 Fitzroy Blue Vs Surrey Park Final Scores: Fitzroy 3-4-22 Defeated By Surrey Park 3-5-23
Peter's top secret rule to the boys this week was to get to the ball and look up quickly for your team-mates: a fine mantra for the team ethic Fitzroy have shown so far this season. This ethic was evident in the team's first loss of the season, with everyone putting in the hard yards to ultimately lose by one point in a spirited and intense game. With five on the interchange bench on this chilly Sunday, the turnout alone was testament to the boys' commitment to the team.
Everyone on field gave a stellar performance; great support in the back line and Laurie's ruck work among the first quarter highlights. Peter encouraged the boys at quarter time, commending their team work, and at one point apiece, they knew they would have to work for this victory.
The second quarter started with a goal to Surrey Park , putting the pressure on early. Just at that moment, the sun came out, and Fitzroy responded with fast legs and a great passage of play resulting in a reply goal from Liam Oliver. There were fast hands and legs, especially from James Hodder and Nick ‘everywhere' Gibbons, and some great marks from Rodger ‘velcro-hands' Paul. At half time, the boys were up 2.1 to 1.3.
Surrey Park came out hungry in the third, scoring some quick points. Nick was great under pressure, and made his presence felt in the midfield, with some terrific marks, tackles and kicks. Still, at three quarter time the lead had changed hands, and Fitzroy started the final quarter down by four points.
The final quarter had parents choking on their sausages with nervousness, and cries of ‘he hit my boy' were interspersed with loud cheers of support as Fitzroy managed to dominate play. However, the Surrey Park defence was solid, resulting in a few rushed behinds. Fitzroy had a handle on the pace, running with fervour to the ball and putting their bodies on the line. In the final minutes, William scored an important goal for the team, again resulting from an excellent passage of team play. Surrey Park was quick to reply, however, and despite a motivated and intense final quarter, the final score was Fitzroy 3.4 to Surrey Park 3.5.
Peter was quick to remind the team that he was very proud of their efforts, especially under pressure from a great opposition. Fitzroy Under 11 Blue again showed that they are more than capable of following their coach's instructions of pace, team efforts and getting to the ball. A gallant defeat.
By Margaret Paul (sister of Rodger) Round 6 Fitzroy Blue Vs SFX Whitehorse Colts Final Scores: Fitzroy 5-3-33 def SFX Whitehorse Colts 4-6-30
It was one of the most evenly matched contests of the season as the Roy Boys faced off against the Whitehorse Colts, in a game where the natural elements played as much of a role as the players themselves. The first quarter saw the Colts get off to a great start with the wind in their favour, but it was not long before the combined team work of Nick and Dylan saw the first score of the game, as Ben, the happy recipient of their team work, booted a great goal on the run for Fitzroy.
Fine tackles, fluent passes and big kicks were the name of the game in the first quarter, with Max, Sam Boyce and James all showing zeal under the intense pressure from the Colt's forward line.
Coach Peter commended the boys on their first quarter intensity and told them to continue their game plan into the second quarter by getting to the ball first and when running and when running, to always look for a team mate for support.
Max, Gabriel and Nick were just some of the star-players in a quarter that showed what the Roy Boys were made of: fast, quick-thinking and cohesive. The wind, this time in their favour, helped matters as well and saw them take the half time break with a nineteen point lead -- four goals, three points to Fitzroy, one goal, two points to the Colts.
The third quarter got off to a fine start with a big knock-out by Laurie, followed by a stunning passage of play facilitated by Sam Boyce and Nick. Dylan proved himself a serial star marker and in this quarter the Colts showed what they were made of and managed to up the score. Twins, Nick and Tom McMahon, did some great work in the centre line -- a triumph for Nick in his inaugural game.
The ever-inspiring James showed what his reputation was made of in the final quarter, helping the team to keep the Colts in check, but it was still a nail-biting finale. In the final five minutes of the game, with the score Fitzroy five goals, three to the Colt's four goals, six points, a sudden rush of energy and spirit helped the Roy Boys secure yet another victory.
Round 4 - Vs SFX Whitehorse Colts FITZROY GET HOME IN A THRILLER Final Scores : Fitzroy 3-8-26 Def SFX Whitehorse Colts 3-5-23 Pre-match kick-to-kick saw plenty of “kick it to me, kick it to me” as undefeated Fitzroy Under 11 blue prepared for the match of the round against SFX Whitehorse. Coach Peter was wary, acknowledging the opposition's impressive start to the year and asking his charges to play with confidence.
Fitzroy looked the better side in the first quarter with Sam Boyce dominating his wing (and the other one too), Ben providing a leading forward target and James and Finnian working extremely hard. Nick was at his elusive best, hitting the woodwork twice before finally goaling. Dylan was racking up possessions as the back-line was rarely tested.
‘Leaning' Springfield Park evoked many memories for this scribe. The paddock was only missing cowpats to complete the picture as the old calf muscles strained to walk up the hill to the car park end for the second quarter.
Meanwhile, Whitehorse took advantage of the conditions in the second quarter. The Fitzroy defence strained under the pressure, with Sam Gritzalis holding the back six together with authority. Nevertheless, loose forwards eventually took advantage, kicking the opposition to a handy ½ time lead of nine points. Second quarter highlights included the forward pressure applied by Sam Gill and Paddy clearing packs and often giving Fitzroy first use of the ball.
Coach Peter was inspirational at ½ time. No macho clichés for him. There's no, “Let's get out there and kill ‘em.” There's No, “Let's grind ‘em into the ground.” His speech was about enjoyment. Radical stuff in testosterone laden football circles but it works.
The Roys played some brilliant football in the third quarter. John, now moved to a wing, took an important mark and passed cleverly to Dylan who kicked a lovely long six pointer. Gabriel was unlucky not to goal while Max kicked truly late in the term. Liam's athleticism and tenacity provided the Roys with much needed drive around the scrimmages and helped set up a handy ¾ time lead of 9 points. But would it be enough?
At the break, some parents held babies, gave out oranges or lollies or whispered advice to eager young footballers. Others just soaked up the autumn sunshine. Meanwhile, coach Peter called the players to, “cuddle up and listen in.”
Positional changes were made, the players were all fired up and ready to go but surely going downhill with the wind would be enough for Whitehorse to run over the top of the Roys. History will show otherwise, however. Laurie contested every ruck contest, often palming the ball to Tom whose last quarter was superb. Roger “The Rock” and James overwhelmed their opponents as Abraham and Finbar kept on top of theirs.
In a desperate and scrappy last quarter, Whitehorse threatened to hit the lead several times. But to no avail. This was Fitzroy's day. The well deserved five point victory was probably their finest for the year.
Round 2 Vs Richmond
Final score Richmond : 3-7-25 to Fitzroy 6-5-41 It was a magnificent day at the Kevin Bartlett Oval -- bright sunshine and the perfect day to show the opponents what Fitzroy is made of. The first quarter against Richmond looked promising. Fitzroy dominated and there was plenty of movement in the forward line. The midfield was dominant, egged on by a good group of spectators straining their vocal chords in support of the team. The forward line looked dangerous at all times and it was Paddy Walsh who scored the first goal in what was to prove a dynamic display of Fitzroy's remarkable team spirit and firm talent. In the second quarter, a resolute back line showed their fortitude at all times. Nick Gibbons seemed to be present wherever the ball was, with Tom McMahon showingremarkable prowess, along with Abraham Abou-eid. Even Sam Gritzalis at full back, a huge talent, was not enough to impede Richmond gaining a goal against the play. James Hodder showed speed and skill in some fine pick-ups -- well done, James -- and Rodger Paul took an excellent mark. Sam Boyce's intense effort was confounded by an opponent. Michael Henderson took a great mark and created an excellent play with John McBrearty and Nick Gibbons. Two goals were superbly rushed in -- by Ben and Tom -- and the score at half time was Fitzroy 1 goal, five points to Richmond 's two goals, one point.
At Half Time, coach Peter gave a rousing speech to the boys, which could have come straight from the mouth of Bridget Jones: Know who your man is. Get in front of the Man, The important thing is Staying on your Man, Keep an eye on your man . Let's hope the Mums were listening. Peter reminded the boys that the umpire was very good, but also very quick to play the free kick which made it all important to get the ball quickly to the forward line in the next quarter. Team-work was clearly the recipe for turning the score around.
Restored by orange quarters and jelly snakes ably distributed by some very attractive mothers, the boys from Fitzroy got back into it in the third quarter. A nice pick-up by John was followed by a beautiful, balletic mark by Rodger Paul. Not even these two could stop the Richmond boys from scoring yet again. Max Lanskis was on a roll with some valiant action on the field until a free kick was awarded to the other side. Laurie Williamson performed well with another fine kick. Richmond kicked out of bounds on the full and we took the ball again until Finbar was intercepted aggressively by the other side. One opponent was well tackled by Sam Boyce and some excellent play by James Hodder was eventually interrupted by the opponents in disturbingly fine form. Some excellent play by Liam Oliver helped to win us a point, but it wasn't enough to turn the tide. It was a hard quarter for us, but they had the wind. Our back line played really well but the forward line crept down too far into the play (thanks, Sean) -- giving Fitzroy plenty to stew over at three quarter time.
Man Up The Back Line, were the words of Coach Peter and with two goals down, the boys had to rev up the team spirit for the final quarter. But if anyone watching was sceptical, it didn't take long to turn them around. In surely what will prove to be one of the great comebacks of the entire season, Fitzroy stunned opponents and sympathisers alike in a remarkable turn around of team cooperation and spirit. Nick Gibbons started it with a stunning goal, showing the form all have come to expect from him in the first five minutes of the quarter. Gabriel Newnham got it down the field to the impressive Tom McMahon, who scored a goal only a minute after the last. Ben Rickard rescued the ball from a pack and scored again, only seconds after, sending the Fitzroy crowd into ecstasy and driving the Richmond parents into despair. How fast things change on a footy oval. Paddy's dad, Terry Walsh, was heard to remark that the previous five minutes had shown an aptitude in the team greater than all their efforts last season, augering well for this year. An excellent kick from Liam Oliver got it down the field and Rodger took another great mark. James took a great mark in defence and Gabriel chased the ball with speed and energy. Another balletic mark by Rodger showed that he was a Nick Riewoldt in the making. Tom took another beautiful mark. Sam Gill delivered a majestic kick to an on-the-ball Michael Henderson, starting a play that involved good work by Ben Rickard and eventuated in a triumphant goal by Liam. Great work, Sam! Leading players couldn't have shown their stuff without excellent team-work by Spencer O'Brien and others. All up, it was a remarkable come-back, leaving the opponents stunned and our boys aware of just how good they can be when they listen to the coach and work together. It was a tough game, and the Fitzroy boys displayed courage and ambition in turning the tide that had been against them. The form on the field displayed to all the spectators that the appetite to win is there, leaving us hungry for the season ahead. Round 1: Vs Greythorn Final Scores: No Report. |
