Under 13 Gold - Now Under 14 Gold- Information for Season 2007

To all Under 14 Players

Football Trainning begins on Wednesday 14 February at Merri Park ( Behind Northcote High School, near the play ground. Not near the Baseball nets)

All three teams will be trainning from 5pm until 6pm. Bring a drink ware sunscreen if required and don't forget to were runners as the ground is firm.

Look foward to seeing as many as are able to attend.

For the latest information we will try to keep the U 14 club web site updated. This should be the first point of call.

Also I'm hoping that the grapevine is still working.

Hi and welcome back to Fitzroy Junior Football Club for the 2007 Season.

This E-mail is to the Under 14 group.

The coaches for the upcomming season are

Gold Team: Matt McLennan Mob0414204516 Training Days Wed + Fri

Green Team: Tom Eaton Mob 0417126867 Training Days Wed + Fri (after cricket finishes)

Blue Team: Terry Hogan Mob 0412364931 Training Thursday + some Saturdays ( Start date to be advised)

We would like to thank everybody for the fantastic turn up on registration day. The exact numbers are still being collated but we have definatly registrated 60 players. This enables us to be definite about having three teams, which is great news for all the kids. The team composition will be based on last years lists and will be finalised by the Under 14 coaches and team managers. Each team will be allocated the same number of players or as close as possibile given the numbers at the time.

The three coaches are aware that most players have other commitments during the season, and that cricket will not finish for a while yet depending on finals so come to trainning sessions that you can. All coaches are happy to boys attend any trainning session even if it's not your team.

This season we also have to be aware that some grounds may not be available for a time due the water restrictions. The programmed season start date of 1 April which is also being reviewed. The outcome of all these issues will be relayed to you.

It is a standard process of the YJFL (the League) to play the first four rounds as grading games. This means that like last year our teams could be regraded into a higher or lower grades at this point. Players can also be graded in these grading games.

To start trainning will be combined and will begin for all under 14's on Wednesday 14th Feb at 5 pm until 6 pm at a ground yet to be determined. All players are asked to attend and advised to wear runners while the grounds are so dry and hard, and also to bring a drink bottle. The following trainning will be Friday 16th Feb. If these days don't work please inform your coach.

Under 13 Gold

The Golds are in the Grand Final 2006

The Under 13 Golds have made their third successive Gold Grand Final and will play off against St Mary's (for the third successive time) next week. The current score is one Premiership each.

Well done Boys and well done to Coach Matt McLennan who has coached them into the Grand Final in his first year.

The passage to the final was anything but straightforward. At three quarter time last Sunday the team was down by two goals in a low scoring game and was kicking into a strong gusty wind in the last quarter. In a typical ‘'backs to the wall' display the boys kicked three goals straight in the first ten minutes of the last quarter and then defended staunchly under constant attack to win through by five points ( 5 7 37 to Kew Rovers 5 2 32)

A great victory but there will need to be a significant improvement if the Golds are going to be Premiers this year.

The players and parents will be joining the rest of the Club back at the Bowling Club after the game which is scheduled for 12:30pm at the Preston City Oval, Cramer St Preston. Our end of season trip will be the following Sunday and the Club’s presentation day is the Sunday after that!

** People have pointed out that this is Father's Day (we would be going for lunch to the park so the late afternoon- evening is clear) but so far this is not a problem according to the people I have spoken to…..if anyone has an issue with the timing please let the Team manager know.

A special thanks to volunteers who have put up their hand to help this year. eg. It takes about 12 people to "run" a home game (and about 9 to "run" an away game).
