MATCH REPORT
Fitzroy under 10 Brown
Sunday 27th May – round 5

Greetings Gold to Brown supporters,

The once Gold now Brown team made its mark in the revised grade with a great win over a solid Canterbury side and continued our winning streak with 2 in a row!
The game was played in fairly gusty conditions, which at one stage looked as if it might be a 5-goal wind and caused the enthusiastic scoreboard crew some problems holding down the board.

The boys took to the conditions without a worry and proceeded to continue the process of building as a team as they worked very well together in the 1st quarter trying to get a score on the board while holding off a very determined attack by Canterbury. Ollie was very strong in defence and Alexei and Connor worked well to hold back the repeated attack.

In the 2nd quarter our enthusiastic team were inspired by a break through snap for goal by Noah and they made the most of the wind at their backs (and sides and faces) by keeping the ball in the forward line and kicking long and direct to the hot spot just as the coach had asked of them. Andrej and Lucien were getting their share of the ball and Iraklis was a shining light in the forward line.

The 3rd quarter saw Canterbury get a sniff of victory and our gallant boys had to raise the level led by some inspirational play by Robbie, as he was everywhere the ball was.
George and the two Gus’s lifted their intensity and the effort from Marcus was excellent as Rory and Joel played their part up forward.

The last quarter was our best as Chas and Isaac fired up and scored goals while Dan and Ben followed the team game plan to the letter contesting the ball. Declan worked with Mitchell to build the wall across the mid field and the whole team combined to lead the Roy Boys to a well deserved victory by a brilliant 26 points.
Keep it up boys!
