Question of the week - what's the difference between Kevin Sheedy and Terry O'Reilly? Answer: Not much at all.

Yes, for those of us who had the chance to hear the Essendon coach miked up for TV on Friday night and then listen to Terry two days later, we could only be left with one conclusion - good coaches understand that footy is a simple game, especially if your players follow instructions. And the Roys Boys, thanks to Terry, know it too.

The match against Macleod started with a lack of intensity. Perhaps it was because it was the only game at the ground for the day (The home team had over-catered - they even gave away steamed dim sims after the game.) Or maybe it was because it was Mother's Day, and everyone was thinking of a big family lunch and chocolates. Either way, Fitzroy was sluggish - and maybe even a little complacent. The focus of the opening minutes was on the Macleod forward line, where Elia was outstanding as a rebounding defender. Noah started to get his hands on the ball, Connor was strong around the packs and Lachlan persisted in some tight contests. And although the Roys started to get momentum in the latter part of the first quarter, they were not dominant. Kent, looking more at home on the forward line with each passing week, kicked the Roys' first and then Jaquan got the ball to Lewis to register the second before quarter time.

The tenor of the game did not change in the second quarter, although Fitzroy started to assert themselves around the ground. Martin's tackling was starting to have an impact and with the defensive wall under Digby's leadership, the Roys managed to restrict Macleod's forward thrusts. Fraser's tackled everything in a McLeod jumper and wrestled them to a standstill, while Nick B kept finding the ball and Walt managed to keep pumping the ball forward. Sebastian snapped a goal, and the behinds kept coming for Fitzroy to lead by 22 points at the major break.

The game started to change after half-time. The Roys started to open up the game more. Sebastian was on the end of a Patrick pass for his second and then Lewis latched on to a loose ball and sent a tumbling punt bouncing through for his second. Moments later, a desperate smother from Kent freed the ball up for Martin on the defensive side of the centre. Martin went for a run, haring away from his opponent, took a bounce, drew a player and sent a looping handball to Patrick who slotted the Roy's sixth. The margin was 43 points and Fitzroy extended its lead in the final quarter.

Max kicked his second goal of the season, and David - finding more space - kicked his first of the game. He added another moments later when Digby sent a ball in to the teeth of goal, and then Lewis, spun around on to his right foot and kicked his third. In the dying moments, Dave marked and goalled to complete the victory.
