Jasper McMillan-Pittard - FJFC's First AFL Player

Jasper McMillan-Pittard is the first FJFC player to be signed to an AFL club, chosen by Port Adelaide as pick 16 in the 2009 National Draft.

Jasper was always skinny and lanky, but fluid, lithe, intelligent and hard working. Jasper has an uncanny ability to attract and run with the ball, control the play, and deliver with accuracy.

From the time he started playing AusKick for Fitzroy he had grace and balance and could kick equally well with both feet. His coaches always marvelled at his peripheral vision in one so young. In his AusKick year, the Fitzroy team was picked to play on the MCG and Jasper set the stand in front of him alive when he took an absolute screamer.

Above all Jasper was quietly aware of and confident in his ability, but never boastful or the slightest bit cocky, and he commanded the respect, admiration, and affection of his teammates.

Everyone at Fitzroy Junior Football Club is proud of his ground-breaking success and wishes him a long and illustrious career in the AFL.
